Porsche introduces a Limited Edition to celebrate 50 years of the 911

Porsche is one of those car companies that really likes to create special and/or limited editions, and since this year they are celebrating 50 years of the 911, they have a perfect excuse to introduce yet another limited edition. This special anniversary model is based on the 911 Carrera S and will be shown at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt.

Porsche didn't make any big changes to the car. It uses the same flat-six engine as the Carrera S that produces 400PS, but the North American market will have it available with a Powerkit, which increases engine performance to 430PS and includes the Sport Chrono Package.

The "European" version has a top speed of 300km/h (186mph), 298km/h (185mph) with the PDK, and can accelerate from standstill to 100km/h (62mph) in 4.5 seconds, but if choose the PDK it takes 4.3 seconds. The North American version should be faster, since it has more power, but Porsche announces the same top speeds, while acceleration times are given for the 0 to 60mph (97km/h) run. 4.2 seconds for the manual gearbox and 3.8 with the PDK.

The car’s NEDC combined fuel consumption is 9.5l/100km (29.7 UK mpg or 24.8 USA mpg), 8.7l/100km (32.5 UK mpg or 27 USA mpg) with PDK, which equates to CO2 emissions of 224g/km (205g/km with PDK).

The interior features leather seats with the center made with a fabric pattern reminiscent of the “Pepita” tartan design from the 1960s, while the rest of the all-leather interior is designed in agate grey or black with contrasting decorative stitching. Moving to the exterior, Porsche offers two unique colors for this limited edition, a darker graphite gray and a lighter geyser gray metallic. There's also a 3D badge on the rear lid saying "911 50", and special 20-inch alloy wheels designed to mimic the classic "Fuchs".

The price? Around 121 thousand euros in Germany or 124 thousand dollars in the U.S.A..
