Renault introduces a new range of trucks [Video]

As with most vehicles, there comes a time when they need to be renewed, and that is what Renault's truck division did to their entire range. These new trucks have a more efficient design, are more reliable and are now ready to comply with the Euro 6 standard, meaning the engines have been improved in order to save fuel and emit less harmful gases, while having better performances.

The new range of trucks, consisted by the long distance, construction and distribution vehicles, are being developed since 2006. It required 2 billion euros (part of that money was invested by the Volvo Group which owns Renault Trucks) and 5000 workers. Since 2008, 500 vehicles were manufactured, 300 of those were used for testing purposes, having covered 10 million kilometers and done 5 million hours of test bench trials in temperatures ranging from -40°C (-40ºF) to +60°C (+140ºF).

Nothing was confirmed about the new engines, but Renault Trucks will give these new trucks many different engines. The weakest engine is a 3.0-liter unit with 150PS (148bhp or 110kW) and up to 540Nm (398lb/ft) used in the distribution and commercial vehicles, and the more powerful engines are used by the heavy duty construction and long distance vehicles, with the 13-liter unit having 520PS (513bhp or 383kW) and 2550Nm (1881lb/ft) of torque.
